2019–2020

The work was made in two stages. The first was performative: a single canvas roughly 14 meters long, created outdoors in the presence of an audience. The image formed through the movement of the body - a large brush, traces of hands and feet, the process fixed alongside the result.

The canvas was then cut into nine parts and moved into the studio. A rigid graphic structure - rectangular frames and silhouettes in dense acrylic - was laid over the fluid, painted layer. The grid does not organize the image; it fixes and isolates it. Open, embodied space becomes a closed, fragmented system.

The work’s formal logic — body in open space, then fixation, grid, isolation — mirrors the social process of 2019–2020: a shift from bodily presence to distance and control.
